Corrupt FIT file

Former Member
Former Member

Hi!
I am new to trail running (and the countryside in general, haha) - did my hilliest route to date earlier. My run won't connect to Garmin Connect/Strava. When I've done it manually, Strava said 'the upload appears to be malformed and we are unable to process it,' - getting similar messages on Garmin Connect.

Pretty please can anyone help fix the FIT? I'm desperate to see the route and elevation (can't find out elevation from what's recorded on my watch).

Tried to attach it here but that wouldn't work either :(
Thanks so much,
Hannah

Zip the fit file, then attach it to your post.

Thanks, I tried this and it still hasn't worked. I think it's lost forever!!!

  • Upload the fit file here... removed link

OK, I have it and I'm posting it here. This is the original. Not fixed yet.

  • Former Member, this should work for you. Unzip it and import it into Garmin Connect Web.

That looks like a tough climb.Astonished The file wouldn’t upload due to one data record with strange GPS position data. I removed that one data record.

Once you've synced everything from your watch, it's a good idea to perform some cleanup maintenance on the Activity folder of your device. Hook USB cable and delete the contents of \Garmin\Activity folder. This can sometimes cause the corrupt  file issue that you've experienced.

Wow!! It actually worked. I had a bit of a tantrum yesterday, haha. It really brings out the worst in us when we can't get our hands on our data doesn't it, or maybe that's just me.
Thank you so much for your help. It's really handing knowing the elevation as I didn't have a clue - very handy for training!
I will definitely do the clean-up maintenance you've advised.
    Thanks again! :) :) :)
