Garmin Coach not recognising workout

Former Member

Hi.

Today I had an easy run as part of my 5k training. I went through the watch to my schedule and selected the workout, got my GPS signal and set off. At the end it was the usual standard; rate the workout, work out overview and then finally the work out was available on Connect. All seemed normal.

When I got into the app, however, my work out never saved as part of coach but rather as a normal activity on My Day. According to Coach, I am still scheduled to do my easy run today.

What causes this and are there any fixes?

I tried changing the type of activity from unspecified to training (then sync) then fitness (then sync) which never worked. I tried removing and repairing the device to no avail.

Will the activity update correctly or do I need to strategically pause the training so it doesn't show as incomplete and avoid the supposed confidence strike for missing a work out.

Thanks.

Exactly the same issue for me, they still haven’t fixed it

  • Happened to me today as well. Did a Garmin Coach workout. It shows up as being completed in My Day but the Workout stills shows as outstanding in both My Day (a separate entry), Garmin Coach and the watch itself. It’s very annoying. From looking through the forum, this is a long standing recurring issue which Garmin are ignoring or are unable to fix.

  • I've had the same issue now for my last three runs - very annoying as my "plan" is being adapted as if I have missed vital training when in fact I have done them. C'mon Garmin sort it out!!! You shouldn't be offering a service if the tech doesn't work.

  • I have since contacted Garmin support on this and I found them very helpful. Got to the root cause of the issue for my case anyway.

If one reschedules a workout, say from a Saturday to a Sunday, using your phone and you don't allow the phone to do a full sync with the watch, then the actual training run on the Sunday gets disconnected from your plan. It will still be recorded as a run but not part of the plan.

To avoid this, the recommendation is to do a sync between phone and watch prior to doing your run. This works for me.

  • Had the same issue today for my easy run not recognized by Garmin Coach. Tried editing the activity type and not working for me. Then I went to Garmin Connect web portal -> calendar, and noticed that there are two easy runs scheduled for today. Removed one run fixed the issue.
