Corrupted .fit file from NC500

Dear all,

I'm cycling parts of the North Coast 500 in Scotland and unfortunately one my bike rides did not sync between my Fenix 5 Plus and Garmin Connect.

This has been my troubleshooting so far:

1) Connect my Fenix 5 Plus to my laptop, download the file and try to upload it directly to Garmin Connect - did not work.

2) Tried to upload the file to Strava - did not work.

3) Tried to use Garmin Online Fit Repair Tool website - did not work.

4) Tried to use Fit File Tools website - partially worked, however half of the ride is gone.

5) Connect Garmin Support - they wouldn't know how to fix it.

I'm running out of options so I'm hoping a kind soul here can help me!

    hi Javier,

    4) Tried to use Fit File Tools website - partially worked, however half of the ride is gone.
    • when it recovered 34km, than that is all the data present in your fit file

recording to your fit ile ended abruptly without any additional activity data present

    How unfortunate!

On my Fenix, I can see the activity as 59.48km but when I try to open the file, it stays in loading.

Is there a folder with crash/corrupted files or somewhere else where the activity can be?

    Thanks for your help

    hi,

On my Fenix, I can see the activity as 59.48km
    • the data you see is from a seperate stored summary
when I try to open the file, it stays in loading
    • because your fit file is corrupted
Is there a folder with crash/corrupted files or somewhere else where the activity can be?

    yes and no

    • when you can connect your fenix in mass storage mode to a computer
    • you could scan the fenix with a file recovery tool
    • this only works when no other data was written after the given damaged fit file
    • and given your fenix is an MTP device, no recovery tool will work on it (as far as I know)

    happy & safe sporting
