Spivi .fit files upload with error

Hi everyone...

Does someone have a way to help me upload a Spivi spinning workout to my Connect account. The .fit file from Strava or from Spivi doesn't upload to Connect.

"An error occurred with your upload. Please try again"

I've tried running it through a repair tool at http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl to no avail.

  • I do not think you can import workouts to Garmin Connect manually. On the Import page in Garmin Connect Web is clearly stated it is only for Activity files, and for body data. I am not aware of any other import function for workouts in GC. If you have the workout in a compatible FIT file format, you can try putting the file directly on your watch, into the folder //GARMIN/Workouts, though.

  • Thanks for the reply. The fit file has Distance, Speed, Time, HR and power metrics... not sure how this differs from other activity files from other sources such as Zwift or something... it doesn't have GPS data so it should technically be uploaded as an indoor cycle.

I'll try drop the activity into my EDGE 530. But I don't think that'll work...

  • So is it an Activity file, or a Workout file? In the terminology of Garmin, "Activities" are records of performed activities, while "Workouts" are kind of training plans to lead you through a workout. Activity files may be imported to GC, while Workout files cannot.

If your files are Activities, then there is apparently some incompatibility in them. You best contact Spivi and ask them to fix the problem. You can also try passing the file through the Section Remover of FIT File Tools (without removing anything), and see whether it helps. If not, and you do not get any help from Spivi, try using an alternative file format, such as TCX.

  • Thanks for the definitions... it's an activity then.

I also think it's an incompatibility most likely. I've only managed to find a tool to repair which failed to upload, and one to convert to CSV, which also failed to upload.

I'll try your tip and report back.

Spivi's website seems a little lacklustre and unimpressive, so my confidence isn't high. I have written them but no response yet.

  • Unfortunately nothing worked... The EDGE unit deleted the fit file after booting.

The FIT file tools didn't manage to help either.

    Thanks for the help though!

  • The upload was ment for Workout files. Makes no sense for Activities. Try posting your workout file and asking the resident FIT file expert Former Member for some analysis - he may be abe to tell you what is wrong with the file, and possibly also how to fix it.
