Steps on the treadmill versus steps on the road

I walked on the treadmill for almost 40 minutes yesterday and the scar man gave me like a little over 2000 steps. If I walk on the road for 40 minutes I would get like 6000 steps.

Steps are measured by an accelrometer in the watch,. If you want that the steps are detected and counted, the hand must freely move. The accelerometer cannot detect any acceleration if there is none (i.e. hand posed on the handlebar). Let your arm moving freely when walking on the treadmill, or wear the watch on the ankle instead.
