310XT multisport mode not showing correctly in Garmin Connect

 Hi,

I have been using a FR645 music the last year (love it), but since I started with some swimrunning I wanted to be able to measure the OW swimming in a multisport mode. I got a used 310XT to try out before splashing out more money of another more recent watch.

Trying out a swimrun, twice, seems to work well when doing the activity. AFAIK this is how to set up the watch:

- Make sure you have most recent firmware (4.50)

- In settings, switch the "swimming" to "yes"

- Create a multisport activity with running, other, running, other etc, when swimming switch is on, "other" should be measuring OW swimming.

- And off you go. Every time you switch activity you press the "lap" button.

I did all this, and during the workout it seemed to function well. However, after syncing with Garmin express through the ANT-stick, the screen above is what is shown.

All the running activities are lost time-wise, Garmin things I ran for 0.2 seconds each time. Total workout clocked in on 1 hour 50 min, but here only 40 minutes are shown, which I approximate to be the amount of time swimming. On the GPS maps, the whole distance is shown, but it's all registred under the "others" activity (swimming), and nothing under the running.

Who's got a solution? Ever grateful!

Erik

  • Hmmm, your setup looks correct. It's been a long time since I used the 310XT in multisport mode, but I never used the swimming mode (I put the watch under the swimming cap for open water legs). Never seen issues like yours. Anyway, I don't think that it's a Garmin Connect issue. More likely your watch registered the event incorrectly. Can you have a look at the activity summary on your watch and see if the timing is correct for the run legs? Or perhaps you can post the original .fit file here, so someone could have a look at it.

Thanks. When looking at the activity, the summary says 1 hour 50 minutes which is correct, but distance is 20,5 km which isn't true. With swimming and running I believe it's closer to 13,36 as is stated in garmin connect.

The laps in the watch shows the same info as in garmin connect, which adds up to 13,36 km and around 40 minutes, and 0.2 seconds per running lap. But, summary still shows 1 hours 50 mins.

To clarify, when looking at the GPS plotting of the "others" activities, they contain the full distance plotted, both the swimming and run that follows.

    Attached is the .FIT-file.

Hm, tried to drag-drop the fit-file, but doesn't seem to get uploaded. Should I convert it or post it as text or similar?

  • I'm not sure how attachments work in this new forum.

The laps in the watch shows the same info as in garmin connect,

Then it means that the watch screwed up somewhere, and Garmin Connect is not to blame. I'll try to dig up my old FR310XT and I'll see if I can replicate the issue. I'll let you know in a couple of days.

Thanks! Will try to do a full reset of the watch and see if that solves anything.
