I have 3 times for the one activity. Which one is ‘it’?

Garmin says I have a best time for a segment of 1:42 on 9 June. I looked it up and set on that very day I have a best tine of 1:14 on STRAVA, which is linked to Garmin. It’s uploaded to Garmin first!!!!! When I looked up the actual activity on Garmin it said I did it in 1:53. Which one is the one time?

PLEASE Explain!

  • 1:53 is the time of the enitre activity (from pushing the start button, to stopping it), 1:42 is the time on the Segment (from passing the start point to passing the end point). The Segment in Garmin Connect may perhpas differ from the Segment in Strava, hence the shorter time in Strava. You'd need to zoom to it to max in both applications and compare, whether they are really identical.

  • Thanks to try and clear it up, but it does not make sense. Every time I run it, it is within another run. Same start and finish every time. Seeing as Garmin syncs with strava, it should be the same with maybe up to 2 second variation.

  • but it does not make sense

I do not understand what you mean. Activity is not the same as a Segment, Segement is delimited by two physical points automatically, when you run through them. An Activity is delimited by two time points manually by the user. There is no reason thinking they must be identical. The Activity must be active already before the Segment start, as well as still after the Segment end, so it is unevitable that the Activity time will be longer than the time of the Segment.

And Segments in Garmin Connect and in Strava do not necessarily have to be identical.

You best share the concerned Activity as WebLink and post the link here, so that we can have a look at it. A link to the Strava segment would be useful too.

  • Here are the segments:

    Garmin: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/segment/98D805D4F1914050983E953BFC91BB27

    Strava: https://www.strava.com/segments/7798248

The one in Garmin is 100 meters longer than the one in Strava. The segments are also very very short and the starting points are located close to a crossing. That often causes timing issues. It also looks like you made a turn right at the starting point for the Garmin segment and that could cause the segment matching to start a bit too early and when you are running a little slower.
