Malformed .Fit File, Please Help

Former Member
Former Member

Hello, please help. I walked about 12km in the heat, with a bleeding heel, just to get the kilometres in for a Club Competition, and of course, the file is corrupt - I have tried fixing with the Repair Tool to no avail. I know this was a walk but it was recorded as a run (only runs are recorded for the competition, they are allowing this). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I tried uploading the .fit file to this post but it wouldn't let me.

I have tried fixing with the Repair Tool to no avail.
    • ran your fit file through Fit File Tools's section remover (without any removing) for you

recording to your fit file ended abruptly, without any further activity data available

    • your fit file contains data for 1.2km

    check this file 3630.fitfiletools.zip

Thank you for your effort, unfortunately this is as far as I got as well, was hoping to recover more. I created a manual activity and hope that will qualify.

When I ended the activity, there seemed to be no summary and the watch crashed. I tried to upload to the Garmin app but there was no record, so I manually found the file after connecting to my computer (tried to upload to Strava) but the file was marked as "malformed". I tried using the Garmin tool, and downloaded the Fit File Repair Tool, however 33bytes of the file were reported as damaged and only managed to log 1.2km - the same as yourself. That leaves about 11km of data that is unrecoverable.
