Training Effect from Zwift Rides/Runs

Hi there,

Are there any plans to implement the training effect data from zwift rides and runs? My activities upload to the app perfectly but its just missing all the training effect data. I realise this may be due to it being Firstbeat info, but if there could be a way around this it would be absolutely huge!

Also are there any plans to create a "Virtual Cycling" activity? As right now I need to use virtual run to sync my heart rate even when I'm cycling.

Thanks very much

Would like to follow your question as I was searching the same

  • Are there any plans to implement the training effect data from zwift rides and runs?

Nobody here on the user forum will tell you what the plans of Garmin are, but currently VO₂Max and TE measurement are available only for Activities with GPS tracks: Why is my Training Status not Updating on my Garmin Fitness Device?

Also are there any plans to create a "Virtual Cycling" activity?

    Virtual Cycling is available:

  • Its an activity on Garmin Connect but not on your actual watch for some reason.

Also Indoor activities can give TE (just not VO2max) but it requires you to use a garmin device (synching zwift wont give you TE)

So my work around has been activating indoor cycling on my watch and broadcast HR via bluetooth to zwift, and connecting my watch to my power metre. That way my watch will record a workout from my power metre (albeit without gradient from zwift).

This is cumbersome however as I will need to delete a duplicate workout from strava, as well as disabling zwift connection to garmin connect (to stop duplicate). So if zwift just gave a TE that would be way easier..

Also in regard to garmin forums, do no garmin employees ever post here? Thats strange...

If Virtual Cycling is not available on your watch, either install it from the IQ store (or use the Any Ativity IQ app), or change to the Virtual Cycling once synced in GC.

I would not tell strange, rather pretty standard for a user forum. Still, up and then, you'll meet a Garmin employee, especially on the forums dedicated to some specific models, though mostly just for an announcement of a new firmware version.

  • What watch do you have?

ive got the Fenix 6 and can’t find it on the extended activity list or Garmin IQ..

    Am I missing something?

  • As I wrote, if you do not find any matching app directly for Virtual cycling, try the Any Activity app or a similar one.

  • Yea ok I think we’ve got off topic, I can just use the indoor cycling app as a work around like I said above.

You just seemed very instant that there was a virtual cycling activity so I assumed you had it on your watch...

The issue is still primary a zwift one though because the current way of getting Training effect requires a double recording (and having to delete one off Strava).
