Can garmin connect be used with iPhone without a garmin device?

I am using iPhone XS. I don't have garmin device. Can I use Garmin Connect still??

  • You'll need a Garmin device to record activities. Anything else will have to be input manually. So yes, you can use it, but probably won't do you much good.

  • Good point

I started to use Garmin Connect recently when bought Edge 830. It works great for biking and I like Connect interface.
On the other hand for walking I am using Apple Watch.
I don’t think that using Edge for walking is a good idea. I could use Garmin heart rate monitor while walking...

Not sure what would be the best and simple combination in order to integrate walking activity into Garmin Connect

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Not sure what exactly you mean. Are you asking how to record a walk with Garmin Edge + HRM strap? Well, record it just like a cycling activity, save, and then change the activity type to Walk, in Garmin Connect. It will probably not record steps, and related metrics (i.e. cadence), but otherwise it should work just fine.

Better yet, buy a Garmin watch or a fitness tracker, and use it for that. If you do not have a big budget even for a simple device, you can still get a 2nd hand device for a good price,

  • Thanks for input

Likely I am not sure myself... that’s why I was not able to define my goal.
it doesn’t make sense for me to use Edge for walking while I am using Apple Watch. It also doesn’t make sense to use HRM instead of Watch only in order to record into Garmin Connect

Most likely will continue what I was doing before

  • I understand the problem as I want to do the same thing.

I want to track all my activity in Garmin Connect as my ‘logbook’. But I don’t want to use my Edge 830 for non cycling activity as it wants to record everything as a cycle.

I don’t have an Apple Watch anymore but might use an iPhone app for tracking walks (Runkeeper, OS Maps or Komoot perhaps). But I think that after the walk I then need to manually download the gpx file from that service and manually import it into Garmin Connect. I don’t think any of this is possible in the apps. It needs to be done on a computer.

I haven’t tried this yet but seems like the best way to do it to ensure Garmin Connect remains my activity logbook.
