Challenge cheaters

  • A challenge group I belong to has a participant clicking two bike rides in one day taking place at the same time - recorded on two different devices. A 4 1/2 hour ride becomes 9 hours! The calories burned also is double. Both challenges are won every week by him. Hardly fair on other participants
  • This is a common issue with people logging rides on both an Edge bike computer and a wrist device and I don't think that they always are doing it to cheat. They just don't know how to do it correctly. Some people just don't care if the data is wrong.

Many people that use two devices to log just dismiss one of the activities after the ride and not save it. In that way they get the correct data logged, but can use all the functions and see the data during the ride on both devices.

There are also those that log everything they do as running since there device only supports running and they don't change to the correct activity type afterwards. They got really good segment times for running but they are actually biking. They just don't care or know that they can change the activity type afterwards.

What does he say about it when you ask him?

  • He has chosen not to reply to any comments made

  • Not much to do then. There is currently no way to report a user and remove them from challenges or segments.

What you can do is to suggest Garmin to add report functions: https://www.garmin.com/forms/ideas/
