Steps on Garmin Connect not same as watch or daily steps

Garmin Connect application shows different values for today steps in MyDay stats and Steps details stats

I have seen several posts where others are experiencing the same issue but has anyone found a fix or solution to this? 

As the total number steps completed on the watch or on my day steps is never the number that is added to the steps details stats, sometimes this can be 1000s less than what you actually did and often will miss daily targets even though you achieved them. 

I have tried syncing several times late on the evening closing the app down and re syncing but the steps value is still a lot lower than what i achieved, then the following day the lower number of steps is added to steps details. Very annoying

  • The live Steps counter on the GC Mobile app does not show the true count synced to the online account, rather just the last value received from the watch. You have to sync the app with the online account to make sure it was saved - tap the sync symbol up right (the double arrow circle), and wait till the circle around the watch symbol closes and turns green - only then the syncing was complete and the steps saved online.

    You best do it before midnight, or before going to bed. It is also wise verifying whether the account really received the data - you can do it by viewing the daily data (not just the steps counter on the My Day screen!) on the phone app too, but personally I always check my Steps Goal Streak on the Personal Records page in GC Web before going to sleep. It never happened to me that the value shown there would be reduced the next day, so if it is right there, the sync was sucessfull and you are safe.

  • Thanks, my issue is the daily steps data is different from the steps details data even after i sync my watch. 

    Today for example I have just synced with the connect app so it is up to date, my steps on my watch and daily steps are 14,215 however when i click on step details steps are 13,217. Tomorrow when i check my steps for today they will be 13,217 so 1000 less than actual steps which is frustrating. 

  • And are you sure the sync was complete and sucessfull? Did the circle turn green at the end? Did you check the Device Sync Audit? (see it at the bottom of GC Mobile Menu » Settings)

    Yeah sync is complete and successful, circle turns green and checked everything.

    Still my step details differ massively from my daily/watch steps totals and this happens everyday. 

  • Contact the Support and send them both screenshots. Please let us then know what the outcome was, so that other people with similar problems can find the solution here.

  • I’ve just spotted that mine has been doing this too.  Only realised when I linked a third party app as I’m doing a virtual race distance- couldn’t work out why is managed 8 miles on approx 3000 steps...did you get yours fixed?  If you did can you share how.  Thanks 

  • Same problem for me, and I 'loose' between 2000 and 3000 steps per day, and this is very annoying. I tried everything (uninstall the app, pair again the watch, unistall all applications and watch faces...), Nothing worked...

    Could anyone help on this ?

  • Why not contacting the Customer Support? As you can see here, there is no known solution for this issue, on the user forum.
