Can't find various data in web version (which is available in app/watch)

1. 7-day training load is shown in app, but can't find it in web.

2. I don't see vertical oscillation, stride length and possibly some other things in both web or app in workout view (though there is such data field in watch).

3. Ground contact time not shown in web, shows empty space when I open it. I think there is some bug in application here, there is error in browser's console:

I am using FR 245.

P.S. there are other data that is not displayed, but I hope it will populate as I run mare as I got my watch not that long ago.

  • 1. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/report/activity_training_status/all/last_four_weeks

    2. Do you run with a HRM with Run dynamics like HRM-Run?

    3. Same as 2. It still might be a bug in Garmin Connect Web, but you need to have the data to have anything to view.

  • 1. I get this when I enter training status

    :

I guess if this would be available I could navigate to training load. This certainly looks like a bug or very bad UI, but I hope I will 'unlock' this when I make more plain runs (now I mainly run trail runs which doesn't generate data for training status).

    2. Sorry, can you elaborate on that? Do you mean if I have heart rate monitoring enabled when I run?

  • That's odd. My training status looks like this.

I've got a Forerunner 945 so some things might be different.

    2. The chest HRM-Run (and HRM-Tri) got the sensors to record all the data you are asking for so you must use that. The watch alone isn't enough. Well, I can see stride length and cadence without HRM-Run but all other Run Dynamics data are missing.

  • Check that you got all your activities uploaded to your account so everything is working as it should and that you are logged in to the right account.

  • 1. Mine looks like this:

I understand why I don't see status, but I should see load.

    2. OK, so why don't I see stride length?

According to the support page all that should be available:

    https://support.garmin.com/en-HK/?faq=BxJKzDA0bG4PpkPwwiK2d8

And it's available in watch itself when running, so it shouldn't need any additional equipment.

  • Regarding 2 - I have only one theory - that it's just artificial limitation according how high-end watch model you have.

  • I don't get any graph for stride length when I run without my HRM-Run. I only get one single value Average stride length. It is below all the graphs under the headline "Running Dynamics" so I don't think it is an artificial limitation.

  • Read your link again for the requirements.

    It says:

Vertical oscillation is one of six running metrics available when using an HRM-Run/HRM-Tri, or Running Dynamics Pod1, that are collectively called Running Dynamics2.

    Running Dynamics

    • Cadence
    • Ground Contact Time
    • Ground Contact Time Balance3
    • Stride Length3
    • Vertical Oscillation
    • Vertical Ratio3
  • OK, you are right about the requirements, I misread those. And that data field, that I talked about - is available but not filled when I run. Well, when I've read about that pod it kind of makes sense. It makes sense to me that it's needed to calculate vertical oscillation and related stuff, but I don't understand why it's mandatory for stride length. Isn't it pace/cadence? But anyway that's not so important.

  • I guess it calculates the average stride length by using the length of the activity divided by the step count after the activity so it can show that single value.

It can't get an accurate enough value during the activity without the HRM-Run so it wouldn't be a useful to show the value in a graph.
