does anyone know if i can manually adjust my step count. i added a manual activity but the step count doesn't adjust to this knew activity or mu intensity minustes?? is there nother way to record this, im new to Garmin and with fit bit you could do these things?? Help!!!

  • I find that extraordinarily hard to believe without any evidence. Given how easy it would be to fake step counts, I seriously doubt there is any contractual relationship betwene Garmin and the plethora of insurance / health cover companies to prevent any manipulation.  The contract is between the individual and the insurer for one thing, so any fraud would be the responsibility of the insured person, not Garmin.

Insurance companies are looking for customers to evidence their activities, but there's nothing that I've seen (even from yur links) that provides any evidence that the step counters are being regulated for their accuracy or inability to be able to edit by the insurance companies.

The information comes directly from the Garmin staff. You do not need to believe it, but it won't change anything on the fact that Garmin won't allow the manual entry of steps (uness they change their mind later).

  • fair enough if you have 2nd hand accounts like that; and you're right I don't need to believe it (though I'll be honest, I still don't - it reeks of tinfoil hat conspiracy theories which are so prevalent).  There's no reason though why Garmin couldn't allow a feature of "manual steps added" which provide customers the view they want / need and could be discounted by insurers when looking at activity reports.  Fitbit for example allows this and in terms of stepcounters they are pretty high up there as a ubiquitous device for use with lifestyle insurers etc.

  • Whatever you believe, or whatever Fitbit does, the fact still stands - Garmin does not allow the direct editing of steps. Call it a conspiracy, but it is so. You have to find workarounds (and there are some).

  • Having a laugh at this discussion, my  new ish Instinct tells me it is anything up to 1600 steps from my bedroom, to the bathroom and to the kitchen each morning!!! ...........on average its 30 steps in FACT.

  • That sux as I am close to a 240 day streak. For some unknown reason my watch cut out & I lost the steps from the first 2 lots of exercise on Saturday & they were over 15000 steps. Hey it's 2021 there has to be a way of fixing this  & getting them added to your data. The mileage showed in our Garmin group.

  • For some unknown reason my watch cut out

If your battery died, that would be the reason - My Garmin Forerunner 45 cut out the battery went flat

Why it died, possibly firmware update is needed or several other reasons - My battery won't stay charged

That sounds like you wear the watch on the hand that you brush your teeth with Smiley Either use the other hand, or let the watch aside for the time  of the brushing.

  • The way I went around this problem was by

1- changing the time back 1 day on the phone

2- Sync it with the watch

3- lowering the steps goal to below what I got

4- change the date back to automatic and update the goal

this will at least preserve the streak
