Can I Enter Steps Manually?

does anyone know if i can manually adjust my step count. i added a manual activity but the step count doesn't adjust to this knew activity or mu intensity minustes?? is there nother way to record this, im new to Garmin and with fit bit you could do these things?? Help!!!

  • For example in the USA + Canada [1, 2], UK, Ireland [3], Switzerland [4], but very likely elsewhere too. Not telling they rely exclusively on that data, but they use it as one of the factors, and rely on the data not being easily manipulable by the end-user. Also some employers offer diverse benefits to their employees if they fullfill certain fitness limits, too. Those programs are not mandatory, of course, you can opt-out, if you do not wish to participate, but the devices have to fulfill the conditions anyway.

  • My daughter's company supplies Fitbits for that purpose.

  • Garmin will not allow any external sources of steps data, or manual editing of daily steps or activity minutes, because they are contractually bound by many insurance agencies and bigger corporations, who often use the step and intensity minutes data from fitness trackers for calculating benefits in health insurance. You have to track the steps with a Garmin device.

  • Thnx, yep, that sux...lol...i left my watch on the charger, I thought I mite be able to adjust it like I used to with my fitbit...oh well, good to know..appreciate it!!

  • But exercise on the elliptical are not included in step total.  Why?  Is running the same way?

  • But exercise on the elliptical are not included in step total.  Why?

Because steps are measured by the acelerometer in the watch, and since you wear it on your wrist and hold the handlebar, the watch does not move, hence it cannot detect any steps. Put it on your ankle instead.

  • So why does my watch add steps while I am driving?  Often when driving I suddenly have "reach my goal" on step counts.    One day when I went on an 8 hour driving trip with very few actual steps on the day....my Garmin logged a lot more steps (way past my goal).

  • So why does my watch add steps while I am driving?

Either because you go on moving your arm (i.e. playing with the shift stick, or with some car controls), or because of the bumps on the road, or because of both of it.

  • I agree 100%. Nothing is more frustrating than when my vivo dies mid-run and I lose the run, the steps, and my mind trying to figure out how not to let all my data get messed up (i.e. losing my steps).

  • Did you ever get an answer about manually adding steps to your account?  Having the same problem, I've figured out how to upload my workout data from an apple watch but it won't add the steps in Garmin connect. Everything else shows up - heart rate, pace, elevation, splits, even a map of the run, but not steps.
