Garmin Connect Segments no longer visible

The Garmin Connect segments that I cover my usual ride are no longer showing. Typically only 1 or 2 are now visible. What's up? Garmin Connect going the way of Stava?

I do not think so. It rather looks like the tolerance was a bit decreased a few weeks ago. So, if your current track does not match well the recorded segment due to the GPS inaccuracies in either of them, then it is less likely it would be assigned. It looks like they changed the tolerance due to complaints about mismatched segments in cases where they were on close paralel pathes. Currently the tolerance seems to be somewhere around 20-30m for each keypoint.

Paradoxically, often the problems are straight starting or ending sections. On staight lines, the watches record much less keypoints (when in the Smart Recording mode), and hence there may be no keypoint in the track of the activity that would be within the 30m of the starting or ending point of the segment. For example if you ride or run 50m without any change of direction, pace, elevation, or HR, the watch may not record any new keypoint. It means that in such case already the starting point may be an issue even if its GPS position is recorded quite accurately. Using the Every Second recording may help in some cases.

Report it to the Support, if you are not satisfied, since they may not be aware of the volume of negative consequencies if there is no feedback. And they are not likely to see your post here on the user forum.
