Challenge "Major miles" inactive

I joined the "Major miles" challenge, but it's showed like inactive (gray) in the Challenges section of Garmin Connect web page. I run yestarday 10k but they are not recorded in the challenge. Any ideas??

  • It is gray for me as well but if I click the challenge I see my progress.

    Which activity type did you use for your running activity?

  • Hi e7andy, the Activity Type is "Running". If I click the challenge I see "0 of 161 km".

  • Thanks. I can't see any potential issues at all. Everything looks good.

    Do a minor edit of your activity to see if that helps. Edit the name and save. That sometimes help with issues with the badges.

    Yes, as  tells, it looks OK, and the distance should be included in the Challenge. The only thing that could perhaps be a problem is the note under the watch photo "Summary Data: Edited". Mostly the editing of an activity plays no role, but at some badges, touching some of the data like the distance, time, or the duration, may avoid being awarded the concerned badge, so it could be perhaps the reason this time too.

    If resaving the title of activity in the way  suggests, does not help (in some cases it is not sufficient), try activating the edit function making a minor change (adding a Calorie, for example) and saving it. Toggling the activity type to another sport and back to Running again, is another way that often works even when editing the title made no effect.

    If it does not help either, export the activity in the FIT format (the option Export Original in the cogwheel menu), delete the activity from GC, and reimport it from the FIT file. Check whether it was then included in the Badge Challenge before you do any modification on it.

  • ... and another thought - the Badge Challenges were released for some testing briefly already in May, so if you joined it in that time, then perhaps it did not work correctly yet. You could also try leaving and rejoining the Challenge now, to see whether it does not help.

  • Well, I don't know the reason, maybe someone of the support team of Garmin read this post and did something, but now I can see my yestarday's kilometers recorded into the challenge.

  • I have a similar issue on my connect as well:

    But when I click on "Major Miles", my progress to date does show.

    As you can see from the "Weekend Walking" challenge, it shows as active, but the data screen shows me as completed, but 0/0 miles.  

    I tried leaving it and re-joining it, but nothing changed. I did NOT do this in "Major Miles," as I was afraid I might lose my miles!

    I am happy it is recording my mileage, because this month is going to be tough if I want to earn all the badges, which I am at least attempting!  I would hate to have to do something all over again!

    Just my $0.02.

  • It is exactly the same in my account. The challenges look inactive. Note that it is every second challenge so it looks designed like that.

    My Weekend walking also looks completed.

    I'm not worried. It will be fixed. Just make sure that you join the challenges and do what is required on the set dates.

    I did a test with Major Miles and left it and joined again. It kept the distance. Nothing lost.
