moving and elapsed time, pauses

I'm trying to import a ride data from Strava and import it accurately to Garmin Connect. During the bike ride, we took a ten minute break, which Strava recognized. Therefore, the "moving time" in Strava was less than the "total duration" which is what I expected. However, when I export this data, Garmin doesn't recognize it properly.

When I export a .fit file from Strava and import it to Garmin Connect, it *does* recognize the moving time properly, but disregards much of the heart rate data (it appears to sample only sporadically.

However, when I export a .gpx file from Strava and import it to Garmin Connect, it uses the "total duration" only (ignoring pauses and moving time), but includes all of the heart rate data.

Is there a way for Garmin Connect to properly recognize moving time (pauses in workouts) as well as heart rate data?

Thanks so much!

Dave

  • Open the GPX file in Notepad, and remove the offending parts. It is an XML file, but easily readable, so it should not be too complicated, even if you are not a coder. Or use one of many online GPX tools to edit the file accordingly.
