Lending device and transferring the activity?

Hi everybody,

My wife has a couple of Garmin devices of her own, but for some activities its better to borrow some of mine. Is it possible somehow to transfer the activity between accounts without disconnecting-connecting-disconnecting devices from/to accounts?

  • The easiest way would be to keep the device connected to your account, but after she has done the workout you export the activity via the cogwheel and she can import the resulting file from the operation. After that, you delete the activity on your account.

However, there could and most likely will be implications to your account such as calculations of Vo2Max, training load, etc. - depending on the kind of device that you have. Those things are not "reset" when you delete the activity from your account. And naturally some of the metrics of the activity will be based on your settings, like heart rate zones etc., and will be present in the data she imports.

  • Yes, exactly as  wrote - additionally even switching the GC account (connecting the watch to another account) would not help, since the cummulative data are kept on the device. It measn you would have to make the Master Reset before passing the watch to someone else, and then again, when taking it back. And Master Rest would remove all previous records, data, and settings, of course, too.

  • Hi, Can you please explain "cogwheel>". I lent my watch to a girl who was trying to run 90km.  I would like to give the saved run to her.

They mean the "gear icon" at the top right corner of the activity on the Garmin Connect website.

  • Thank you Toronto Running.
