error uploading gpx file

I created a track in Basecamp, exported the track as a gpx file and now want to upload the file to Garmin Connect, but I get an error that something went wrong. The same happens when I want to open the file (which is saved on Google Drive) with the Connect mobile app on my Android smartphone. I can open the file in Gaia GPS without any issues.

  • Maybe you are trying to import it as an Activity (over the Import function in the top menu). For Courses, you need to use the Courses page (see the small link Import at the right bottom corner of the white window)

That's it, many thanks! Usually I save gpx files on Google Drive and open them on my smartphone with Garmin Connect, but that didn't work, so I tried using the web version. When I open the file on my smartphone it goes to courses within the Connect app but still I get an error message there. Most of the time this works but sometimes I get the error, and it's not clear why because I can open and use the same file in other applications (such as Gaia GPS).

  • There seem to be an issue with some file managers not cooperating well with GC Mobile Android v4.30. Try changing the file manager for an alternative one, and most likely it will rework again.
