Missing "like" icon

I did not notice anything like that on my side. Does it happen persistently for all activities of always the same people, or is it occuring randomly? Did you try force-reloading the activity page (hit Shift-F5 when you are on the page). 

Also, is the heart symbol missing also at the comments of the actiivity in such case? Or are the comments not available at all, when the issue occurs?

yes, i tried force-reloading. you are right, it appears not to be random, but consistent for the same people - across all their activities. and, yes, strangely i do see the "like" buttons for the activities' comments. unfortunately, i'm not able to find any pattern among those people for which i miss the icon :/

There might be some relation to their privacy settings. Are the concerned users really your Contacts, or just members of a Group you are a member of, too? If any of them has a publicly accessible activity, could you post a link to it here, so that we can have a look too?

* off-topic but maybe related: for this particular user (https://connect.garmin.com/modern/profile/f0c5e2ce-d052-4771-befc-666435b1e6b2) (unfortunately not public), i do _not_ see her activity feed on her profile page in the web app, but i do see her activities in my feed and also in the her profile activity feed in the mobile app.

Indeed I do not see any Like icons and also any comment fields at the first two users (Matěj and Klárka), but I do see them at the third one (Rosťa). Is it still the case that you do not see the coments and likes at Rosťa, or do you see them now too?

To my best knowledge, there is no setting controling the appearance of the comments. And since all the needed privacy settings are apparenlty open, it must be linked to some other feature. Private Zones are also not involved in these cases. I though about the dependence on disciplines, location, watch model, etc., but none of it matches the facts.

There is perhaps just one thing that would be worth of checking - ask the concerned people, whether they linked FB or Google to their GC accounts. Although I do not think FB (or Google) account is needed for the comments, it is still possible that GC uses a library (or recently started to use one) using some FB or Google functions, and hence the comments are now not available.

now i'm a bit uncertain if we're talking about the same problem. as i mentioned i do see the comment themselves and the like-icons for them (ie. the comments.) but i'm missing the "like-icon" for the whole activity which is usually located in the area marked red on the screenshot below (that screeny is from one of Rost'a's activities.) yeah, i will try to check with those people if their linked with FB/Google. many thanks for the ideas and the time invested so far!

I beleive we do. I did not mean the comments, but the comment edit box. On the profiles of Klárka and Matěj, I indeed do not get any Like icon (and comment edit box), but on the profile page of Rosťa, I do see both the Like icons, and the comment edit box. See both cases below.

On the other hand, although I get the Like icons on Rosťa's profile page, when I enter the activity page, I have the Commets, the comment edit box, and I can like individual comments as well, but the top Like icon for the entire Activity is indeed missing on this page, too.

It would be also interesting to ask the people to look at their own public Profiles whether themselves they see the Like icons there, on their own profiles.

i'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you, trux. i see, yes, we're on the same page. klarka just wrote me that she does indeed see her own "like" button. strangely, what you describe regarding the missing "like" icon on Klarka's profile page is working fine for me. it's a mystery

My initial idea is that it has to do with if you are connected or not since I can't see likes and comments for my non friends but when I checked the friends list for Rost'a I couldn't find your (trux) image. I don't see the like button or comment field for Rost'a's activity.

Another idea is that you and Rost'a is in the same group and that gives you some extra privileges to like and comment.

yes, we Rosta and me are connected (so am I connected with the other people being mentioned.) and, no, there's no grouping in the game. :/
