Not able to add gear to activity

I have a manually added activity, Indoor Cycling, I am not able to add my stationary bike to. I have tried deleting the bike out of the portal and re-adding, and deleting the activity and re-adding. The bike only shows after I click the Edit pencil, but when I save it disappears. Only my mountain bike is visible from the gear drop down without editing.

Are you not allowed to have 2 bikes? Can you not add gear to indoor cycling?

I had to set the first use of the gear to a date before the activity. This resolved the issue.

Thank you, I just had the same issue.

The new gear had "first date used" the SAME DATE as the activity I was trying to add it to, which was not possible.

Adding just failed with no error message or anything, what the hell Garmin ...
