Garmin Instinct calories count way too high - 10,426?

  • Hard to tell without knowing what Calories exactly you mean. Calories of an activity, of a day, of a week? Consumed Calories, burned Calories, resting Calories, active Calories?

it was the total count for yesterday.  but now May 7 is showing 22,519 total, 7,105 active, 15,513 resting.

for today, may 8, its showing 8,845 total, 1739 resting, 7106 active.

I haven't done anything today, it shows I walked 5.9 miles, I shows I walked 5.8 miles yesterday (which I did around 4-5pm). but the graph today shows that I walked around midnight-1am).  this thing is completely screwed up since the last 2 updates of Connect on iPhone.

You are posting to the forum of Garmin Connect Web, so does it mean you see the same values in GC Web too, or only on your iPhone GC app?

However, if it really shows 15,513 Resting Calories for a single day, then there is something wrong either with your device (yes, Calories are actually calculated on the device, not on the phone or on the server), or with your account, and the best to do would be contacting the support at https://support.garmin.com/

You should also verify your personal data on the watch and in the GC account - the age, weight, height, and the activity class - if there are some excessively big or small values (or zeros), it could lead to some inexpected results. Though the +15,000 resting Calories are a bit too much anyway. And also try powercycling the watch.

Thanks for the response.  GC web and GC app shows the same info.  Personal data are correct.  Turned the thing on/off serveral times, even reset all setting to manufacture defaults.  Will contact support per your suggestion.
