Garmin Connect wrong Elevation Gain

Hello Forum, I have an EDGE 1030 and I saw at my last rides that the Elevation Gain on Garmin Connect when creating the Ride is wrong.

A Ride I have Created in GC shows Elevation Gain of 661m. On My 1030 Edge after the ride I see round about 480m. This is a huge difference.

When I use the Elevation correction.I get about 600m which is still a difference.

Any Idea why there is such a difference and how to solve it?

The difference is that the course creation and elevation correction feature in Garmin Connect uses DEM data (Digital Elevation Model). This will not be as good as actual data from device with a barometric…

Have you checked the Edge 1030 forum? I would focus on answers from aweatherall

The difference is that the course creation and elevation correction feature in Garmin Connect uses DEM data (Digital Elevation Model). This will not be as good as actual data from device with a barometric sensor.

I suspect that GC and the Edge are using different methods to compute elevation gain.

One thing to check. After importing the course to you Edge go view the course details and see if it has recomputed the elevation gain. I'm sure I noticed that on some Edges it recomputes the value from what GC gives it.
