Forerunner 235 activity disappeared

I have had my Forerunner 235 refurbished by Garmin due to battery draining/not charging. My first run today on the refurbished device was recorded and saved. However when I got in from my run I have tried to upload the activity onto Garmin connect but the run is no longer showing in "History/activities". It is showing in total weekly activity (steps/distance/time). I cannot now access any HR date or mile splits etc from this PB run - its so frustrating. Can anybody help?

  • Are you referring to Garmin Connect Web (the web version), or Garmin Connect Mobile (the phone app). Or is the situation identical on both sides?

I think the watch has not saved my run in "activities"

  • Do you see the activity in the history menu on your watch? Did you start, stop, and saved the Activity manually on the watch? Or do you use the automated MoveIQ mode?

I started, stopped and saved the activity on the watch. It announced a 5k and 1m record. (These now show under "My stats" and "records") I then clicked "done" after saving.

When selecting "History" then "activities" the watch states "no activities saved". When selecting "History" then "steps" the watch  displays "today 14111 steps". Frustratingly there is also some information about today's run under "totals" and weekly" but nothing under "Activities" and nothing that I can upload to Garmin Connect.

  • You can try starting an activity on the watch right now (without physically doing any), then after a few seconds, stopping and saving it. In this way you can check whether there is some problem with the device storage, or whether the activity saves, this time.

Also, connect the watch to the computer with the USB cable, and have a look at the folder //GARMIN/Activity/ on the device (i.e. using File Explorer, if you are on Windows). The activity files are named using the date of the activity. If the activity is there, you could the try importing it manually by dropping it onto the page https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data

  • This happened to me today after a couple years of stopping, saving, done after every run with no problem.. Today...my entire week of run activity is missing.  "No activity saved"

. I usually upload on Fridays.  The week's mileage is in totals and the month total is correct but activity is empty.  So, I had to recreate each run from memory.  VERY FRUSTRATING. Even though the month and week totals are correct, Garmin Connect only shows the total of activities saved, so the need for manual entries.  In the Garmin/Activity folder, no data.  I guess it is time for a new GPS.  Looking at TomTom which I never have trouble with but is not as easy t upload.  Too bad.

  • In the Garmin/Activity folder, no data

Do you also have a Forerunner 235? Are you connecting your watch to a Mac or a Windows PC?

  • I do have a 235 and I am connecting to Windows PC

  • the problem is rendered mood now I guess but for what it's worth I had the same problem with my girlfriends FR45. Activity was properly recorded and saved but only showed up in the weekly summary with no further details.

The reason was that the watch ran out of battery and got charged shortly before we started our run (without synchronizing the watch before the activity) and therefore the watch had a different date and time than the phone when the activity started. So after synchronizing the watch after the run the watch somehow remembered that it just recorded an activity but the details of the run were not available on the watch because the date of the activity was not within this week.

Anyway, the solution was that the activity was properly transmitted to Garmin Connect it just had a different date and time. If you connect the watch to your PC/Mac you can look into the activities folder and see which activity file was created most recent.

Hope this helps someone with a similar problem.
