Has anyone else had issues with Garmin Connect Course Creator creating wildly random routes?

I've reported this to support but they don't seem to care.

There is a main road where I live with footpaths either side of it. Whenever I try to create a route that crosses this road i.e south of town to north, it sends me off on a 25 mile wild goose chase to get to a point when Garmin thinks it is where I should cross.

"Working as intended"

I can no longer create routes that head north from my house.

This also happens with road cycling routes. It won't let me cycle down a main road.

I should point out this happens in the app as well as the website.

Make sure you selected the option "Freehand" and not "Popular Routing" or "Follow Roads", when designing the course. The selection is in the top left corner of the with dialog window, when you work on the web version.

Yes. Have not blocked tolls but will not cross Dunham Bridge

I meant, that you can design your course in the way you choose, even avoiding roads altogether. If you do not like the automatically generated path, just redesign it to your liking.

Been pulling my hair out with the same problem on the phone app but have got round it . I have been selecting Cycle when creating a course , as I should . Changed it to ‘Other’. It works ! Anybody know why ?
