Bought a used device and their data(HR, Steps, etc.) inserted itself into my empty days. How to delete?

My device broke so I replaced it with a used one. After a sync, the previous owner's data has interspersed itself throughout my history and I can't for the life of me figure out how to delete this unwanted data. It's hard to ignore because the previous owner had wildly different stats and it's made useless any tracking of trendlines and records.

  • Make a factory reset of the device (lookup "master reset" in the user manual of your device), and then start anew.

Man... it seemed like such a basic function that it didn't even occur to me to ask *if* it was possible; just the how. If starting anew is really the only option then it seems logical to just start anew on a platform where this won't be an issue. Really disappointing. Thanks for your reply. :)

  • Not sure if I understand what you are looking for. You did not find in the user manual how to do the master reset of the watch? Or did you already do it, and it did not help? What data is still remaining in your GC account from the previous owner?

The residual heart rate and step information are the ones I'm most bothered by. Even with a reset of the watch all of that information is in with my information in Connect now.

  • Not sure what you mean by residual HR, but the average resting HR is measured daily, heart zones are editable, and the immediate HR is independent on the old data. As for editing or resetting steps or HR, it is not possible as far as I know. That's intentional from the part of Garmin, because they are bound by contracts with insurance agencies, who increasingly use fitness trackers for the calculation of health benefits and do not want that users can modify the physio data. However, I assume that the account is just a few hours or days old, so why not simply start anew as I suggested. Or did take longer before you noticed, that the watch was not reset?
