After the update 8th April 2020 the app connects to my watch fine but does not take over the saved activity. It takes the step count, heart rate etc but not the activity.

The FR35 is notorious for producing broken activity files, which are not accepted by Garmin Connect, so maybe the activity file is just broken and does not upload to Garmin Connect. Head to the FR35 forum…

You better post to the Garmin Connect Mobile iOS forum, but perhaps you should also check whether the activity was really saved, and saved undammaged. Connect to te device by the USB cable, check out whther the concerned activity is saved in the folder //GARMIN/Activity, and try importing it manually by dropping it onto the page https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data. Also consider cleaning up old activities to make more free space for new ones.
Thanks for your reply and apologies for not searching around properly before posting - i was in post exercise, where is my activity and why won't it transfer angst! I will use the forum properly in future and not blindly post!
