Disable auto upload of activites from device through WiFi

Hi!

I paired my GPSMap66s for auto upload of activites directly from the device via Wifi through Garmin Express. Since I mostly use the Garmin Connect app for syncing I want to disable this feature again - but how? I can't find a setting for this - a complete reset of the device didn't work. When I remove my device from Connect Web the sync via WiFi stops but only until it is added back through my app - then it is syncing again over WiFi.

Now - how do I stop direct syncing from the device over WiFi? Is this possible?

  • I do not understand why you want to do it, but if you do not need to use the WiFi on the device for anything else, then you could stop the WiFi. If you need keeping WiFi on, but want to block syncing to GC over WiFi, you could for example block the access of the device to connect.garmin.com on the router level, using a firewall rule.

  • The reason why I want to disable the automatic upload is because there some activities which I don't want to have in connect but elsewhere. So I'm moving them off the device before syncing to connect. With the automation enabled I can't do this when using the WiFi for weather forecasts, sattelite imagery and such.

Blocking on router level - yes - I've thought about this, too. But since I'm not only using my home network it doesn't make much sense.

But I think I found the corresponding setting: In Express there is a "Privacy" section where you can disable the automatic upload again. So far it is working for me.
