Steps history is lost unless I sync it within the day.

Hi,

I have a Vivosmart 3 and sync using Garmin Express. Steps history is not showing up in the portal unless I sync it within the day. Yesterday I walked over 12000 steps but because I synced it after midnight Garmin Connect doesn't show any steps for that day. This has happened multiple times the past few weeks. Previously I used to be able to sync on Friday and all of my steps for Mon-Fri would show up in the portal. I tried manually uploading the *.fit files to the portal but it says "This file has already been uploaded."

  • Can I assume you are using a USB cable? My wife and I have a similar problem with our vivosmart 4's and have an open support ticket going on with garmin about it. See the following and if the situation appears similar I suggest you contact garmin support directly for your country to get your name added to it. BTW, my workaround is to use the import function in garmin connect to bring in the the entire garmin directory, lots of error messages but connect seems to sort it out

  • I do use the USB cable. I'll try your suggestion, thanks.

  • To generate information for the garmin support ticket I didn't upload for an entire week and had exactly your situation on my vivosmart 4 using 6.20/6.21 but a perfect sync with all data using 6.16. Use the import function as I have mentioned or if you search back in this forum you can find a link to a site where someone has kept previous versions of garmin software and you can try downgrading to 6.16 until the problem is fixed by garmin. Please don't ask me to revive my old vivosmart 3 just to verify your scenario LOL.

  • Heh, no worries, thank you.

  • Same problem here but interestingly: on one device (Vivomove HR) only. The other one (wife's Vivosmart 4) syncs absolutely fine.

It started occurring since late Jan - I did flag it to Garmin Support mid-Feb and it got escalated to the US Team only recently. They investigate...

The only way to sync the missing data is to upload it via Connect Web / Manual Upload option. Which is rather annoying and most inconvenient.

  • Yes I have this problem to, Fenix 3

    I am VERY disappointed
