Device settings not updating - "technical error"

My device has gone back to the default settings (Vivomove HR) - I have tried for the past week to update it back and it keeps giving me a technical error message. Particularly I do not like the wrist gesture being on - and I can't turn it to off or "on activity only". Are there fixes in the works for this error in the garmin connect web - it seems the only place you can change your device settings.
