.FIT file missing ~7 mins of run

I have analysed said .FIT file using FIT File Tools and there are 7 mins of data missing. The weird thing is that when I view the activity on my watch, the full time of 19:20 is recorded. The GPS trace is also cut off at a corresponding location.

I'm hoping the data for the full activity exists somewhere.

Thanks

    hi,

now that you repaired your broken fit file, do you have some time to spend and help others Slight smile

feel free to report back here :

    • the amount of FIT files in the ACTIVITY folder on your FR35
      • (when folder contains many fit files time for a backup/clean operation)
    • the amount of FREE memory on your FR35
      • (when low FREE memory, check above and below answer)
    • are you a MAC user
      • (empty BIN on device)
    • was this activity with a long duration or distance compared to previous activities
      • ( long ones use more memory )
    • was this activty with a pause somewhere during the activity

  • the amount of FIT files in the ACTIVITY folder on your FR35

    50

the amount of FREE memory on your FR35

    2.45mb

    are you a MAC user

    No.

was this activity with a long duration or distance compared to previous activities

No. Very short compared to other activities.

was this activty with a pause somewhere during the activity

No, although after I'd finished I forgot to save the activity right away and there was maybe 10 minutes between stopping the activity and saving it, which is unusual.

Is it recommended to delete old .FIT files?

    thx for the feedback

at the moment FR35 owners bought their watch a while ago

looking at recent rise in fit file faults, the cause could be the amount of fit files on the watch

the watch tries to free up memory when not enough available saving the fit file

this seems to be causing strange mishaps within the fit file

Is it recommended to delete old .FIT files?

a few years ago Garmin stopped removing uploaded fit files from devices

so, good house keeping lies with us users Slight smile

there is a limit on the amount of fit files in the activity folder, regardless of the free memory

would suggest to backup the fit files from time to time in a safe place

again thank you for the feedback, much appreciated
