I ran two separate marathons, both over 5 hours in time and intensity, and the 300 intense minutes badge was not applied to either activity.

Are you an official Garmin tech
This is a community forum, not a Garmin support site.
because you’re feedback is not very helpf
It should be helpful in the sense that it explains you why you did not receive…
Who does that anyway???
I appologize for the offense, my answer caused, but unfortunatelly there are people willing to do even weirder things just to get one stupid virtual badge. The data you presented…
Let me just chime in.

I don’t need to explain anything to you,
Of course, you do not need. Although, if you did explain how it was, and it turned out that you did run the Marathon in a single day, and not in one week as your data shows, we could have found the reason for the glitch in the graphs.
Basically though, the answer to your original question why you did not receive the 300 IM Badge is still valid - because your run was not recorded in a single day. The badge is awarded only for more than 300 intensity minutes burned within a single day. So if the activity is recorded wrong, you'll need to find out why. When you fix that, you may get your badge.
If you had of simply explained that the graph data is distorted, that would have sufficed. That gives me something to go to Garmin with and for them to fix. Even if the fix required them to have access to the official race data, I would have gladly pointed them in the direction of confirming official race data for themselves to fix this. However, that is not what you did, you flat out accused me of cheating or manipulating data to make it appear as if I had run two marathons, and that was not nice, and totally uncalled for. I am pretty proud of those accomplishments. While I am by no means a fast runner, it definitely doesn’t take me over a week to complete 26.2 miles. I happen to enjoy the activity, and by no means do I cheat myself or present myself falsely to others, as your comments implied. For someone to basically make an assumption, based off a technical error, and say I didn’t earn something that I worked hard for and trained for, speaks more to their character. At least I know Garmin has access to all my run data where they can see I had other run activities during the week, and thus could not have manipulated my data by...what is it you implied again...oh, yea... that I stopped my watch for over a week and restarted it under the SAME run activity to “declare” it a marathon. Who does that anyway???

I appologize for the offense, my answer caused, but unfortunatelly there are people willing to do even weirder things just to get one stupid virtual badge. The data you presented clearly demonstrated two half-marathons with a week distance, which was easily visible on the first sight, so I did not expect you were not aware of it. So once again sorry for the false suspiction.
BTW, are you aware the activity is dated in January 2017? Is it really a three years old case, or is it another glitch of the watch?
Thanks, apology accepted. Wow....the badges aren’t that serious IMO, for me to understand why someone would manipulate their way through them. I honestly never paid them that much attention. Which is why I’m so behind on noticing some that weren’t applied. I just started using a new Garmin after my old one flaked out on me and lost a lot of my 2019 run data (my failure to upload to laptop while no longer using the mobile app). I had to delete the Connect app on my Android because it was wiping out my run data..that’s another story for another day. Anyhow, I was killing time today, and just started going through my Garmin data on my new mobile (IPhone), when I noticed one of my connections had badges for activities we had both accomplished, but mine were a no show. Curiosity got ahold of me, and with google at my fingertips, I began to research the “Why”. That brought me to various forum threads, which explained a lot of the glitches that had been happening over the years. So, to answer your question, Yes, the data from my marathon is really 3 years old, and I’m just now inquiring about a lil’ old badge. Lol. I was at level 2 before I began this inquiry. But the fix supplied from the forum helped a lot more of my badges show up, that weren’t applied before. Now I’m at level 3. Actually, my Marathon badge (x2) just got applied. I applied the fix from The forum, which said you would have to go back to your activity and rename it. So, I went back to the activity and just added to the name that was already there, saved it...and then a number of badges showed up that also applied, in addition to my marathon badges. When that happened I scrolled through unearned badges to see if there were any others that should have been applied that weren’t. This is how I came to the question on the “intense 300”. Now that I think of it, it’s odd that it’s predecessors (i.e. Intense 100/150/200) were all applied just last month for a combo of activities, that IMO, were nowhere near as intense as my training runs in 2016, nor a number of half marathons that I ran between 2017-2019. I would think those badges were available during those years, so I can only chalk it up to glitches Garmin had/has with their system. Anyhow, my question came out of curiosity in an effort to solve the riddle of a missing badge. Your response, however, has revealed an even bigger issue behind the data feed. Sorry to be long winded..but thanks for the info.. It will be helpful to use when/if I ever get to communicate with a Garmin tech rep on this...
OK, thanks for the details. It explains a lot, although it does not completely clear up how the week gap got into the marathon activity. But since it is that long time, it could be also due to an old bug than was fixed in the meantime.
There are several possibilities how to fix it: If you still own the old watch, and it is functional, you could check (over the USB cable), whether the concerned FIT file for given activity is still in the folder //GARMIN/Activities. If it is there, you could try importing it again into Garmin Connect.
However, I assume it is not too likely you find that old file, so another way would be exporting the concerned activity from Garmin Connect Web - the export function is available on GCW under the cogwheel symbol up right, and you need to select the option Export Original. Then you could use the Section Remover on th FIT File Tool website to remove the blank week gap from it. When fixed, you'd need to delete the original activity and import back the fixed file.
Let me just chime in.
Intensity minutes have nothing to do with any activity recorded with a Garmin device. Intensity minutes are earned whenever your heart rate exceeds a certain level for a prolonged time, it does not matter whether you register an actual activity or not. Second thing to know is that intensity minutes are calculated by the watch, not by garmin connect. So the question is: did your watch detect 300 minutes for that day? Go to your daily summary screen for that day and see how many (if any) intensity minutes are there. Because if your watch did not detect enough intensity minutes for that day, then it doesn't matter if you ran one marathon or five. And last thing to realize is that the badges system is about 2 years old. As far as I understand, your marathon activities are older. This means that badges were not awarded for those days even if enough intensity minutes were detected, just becuase there were no badges back then. The trick with renaming an acitivity might not work in this case, because as I said intensity minutes are not direclty connected to any activity.
Ahhh! Thanks Tmk2! I now recall reading on another thread about the age of the badge system vs application to activity, so your explanation makes perfect sense.
The Marathons are the only activities I have that meet the intensity minutes requirement, but ...those events are PreBadge era. The HR Graph shows both events totaled over 5 hours intensity (same day) when combining Zone 5 and Zone 4 heart rate data. Good to know all I have to do is participate in a future activity (or series in a day) where my watch measures a HR in the qualifying zones that meet the total intensity requirements. I went back and looked at the HR data for my other activities between 2018-2019, that survived being erroneously deleted by syncing my retired watch to my old buggy android app. Based on your explanation regarding age of the badge system, I now understand why the 100, 150 & 200 intensity badges were applied when they were. Thanks again for your help with clarifying this. Moving forward! Have a fantastic day!
