Golf Dream Round

The golf dream round has gone from the course statistics?

This was one of my favourite features.

Can it be reinstated?

  • I was unable to identify any way to ask a Garmin rep.

Did you also try clicking the link Support in the header menu? When you enter the device model, and the topic, in most countries you'll be presented three ways to contact the Support directly: Chat, Phone, or Email.

  • Does not seem to be available in the US.

You may need to scroll a bit further down:

  • Thanks trux.  Not sure how I missed that...  After 30 min on hold, I tried the chat.  Pasted below.  Not good news...

Bryan Norman:Access to stats on the garmin website and garmin iPhone app has changed. I can no longer see many of the items that used to be available, such as dream round, average score on specific holes, average number of putts, % fairways hit, etc. I would like to know if garmin intends to offer this data on the app.

Parrish:I'm sorry about that. Recently, some of that data was deleted from the app. Again, I do apologize for that.

Parrish:Are you looking at the Garmin Golf app?

    Parrish:or the Garmin Connect app?

Bryan Norman:I will open it now

    Bryan Norman:yes

Bryan Norman:I have tried both. It is not available on either.

Bryan Norman:Two weeks ago, it was gone from the golf app but available on the connect app via activities--golf, etc. Now it is no longer available on the connect app either

Parrish:please grant me a few moments to perform some research

Bryan Norman:Seems to have been going on for months... See

Parrish:I'm sorry. That data has been deleted.

    Bryan Norman:MANY customers are unhappy

Parrish:The current data that is available is Performance Stats, Courses Stats and Club Performance.

Parrish:I understand and I'm sorry for that.

    Bryan Norman:No, it is not.

Parrish:If you open the Garmin Golf app, on the bottom right tap More, you should see a menu.

Parrish:The top 3 items are Performance Stats, Course Stats and Club Performance.

Bryan Norman:You really don't understand what I am asking. Sure, I can see the lame data that you refer to. It is NOTHING like the data that was available just a week ago.

Parrish:The previous options are no longer available because it has been changed to those items.

Bryan Norman:If you want feedback from multiple customers, please see the link that I provided above.

Bryan Norman:The new options are completely useless. Any golfer on your staff would agree.

Parrish:I am looking at that link. I understand your frustration, sir. I'm sorry. I do not have the power to change it back.

  • This was clearly a first level support guy who had no clue what you were speaking about. You should try escalating the issue, and getting to a higher level support level, or to the developers. I play no golf, so it does not concern me, but I have such a feeling that the feautre was removed rather by a mistake, than intentionally, because I see no reason why a useful and working feature would be otherwise removed. Or try calling them by phone, and insisting to get to the higher support level.

  • Agreed.   But if they don't know how to escalate customer support issues that are documented in forums, I'm not that interested in the effort required to be a crusader.  Like I said, 30 minutes on hold when I hung up.  For all I know, it could take hours just to get to first tier.  Then more to find a competent expert.  Maybe they fix it one day, maybe they don't.  If they don't, I will buy a competitor product for the 2021 season.

I'm not at all hopeful based on the exchange above. So I cut-n-pasted my last 30 hole by hole scores & putts into Excel and I've recreated the hole by hole average, putts and dream round. It would have been much better if Garmin had kept the previous course stats feature - someone who doesn't play golf must have made that decision. And the Garmin rep's statement "that data has been deleted" is most likely false - but it's possible. Bad call Garmin!

  • Of course its false. We can see all of the raw data by pulling up scorecards from rounds.  Its all in there.  Its just no longer processed in a way that shows valuable information.  Look, Garmin has 15K employees.  I assume some are golfers who use the company's product.  I assume some of those are designers or even executives who have influence.  i.e. They HAVE to know...  There has to be a reason.  Maybe they used a competitor's methods and are being sued and have to develop something new.  Who knows.

  • Please highlight my name and send me a Private Message. Thank you!

I will respond to you to collect information needed for your request to have the Dream Round feature added back.

Garmin - we really want the Dream Round stats back!
