Body battery - multiple devices

Since the most recent thread about this is already months old, I wanna ask it again.

Are there any current plans for the TrueUp functionality (cross device sync) to include body battery? It would make sense to be able to switch between two devices that support body battery and have the metrics joined at least in Connect. As it is now, it generally just messes everything up if you use anything other than the "preferred activity tracker", as many have noticed.

It kinda works if you change whatever watch you're wearing at the time as the preferred activity tracker, but looking at today's chart I'm not sure if it's doing it correctly - it looks odd compared to my average day.

It would be nice to have some status update if this is even considered to be added, or if it is something that cannot be done to begin with.

  • I am afraid it is not going to happen any soon - it would require completely reworking all the system Garmin currently uses not only for the Body Battery feature, but also for others like VO₂Max, Training Effect, etc - all those calculations are currently being done on the watch, and the server then just stores and displays them. If they wanted to combine the data from multiple sources, they would have to calculate the values on the server side after merging the source data. Although it is technically certainly possible, it is a major and laborous change, and hence I do not see its implementation very optimistically, unless there is a strong pressure from the competition offerring better solution, and suddenly starting to take away a considerable part of the market.

  • I am also disappointed about the lack of true syncing across watches. The way Apple handles this problem on their multiple Apple Watches is that their Apps like Activity record data only from the watch that has an active pulse. So while Apple Watch apps can pair with multiple watches, it only connects with the one that the user is wearing for data recording. Like Garmin, it assumes there is only a single user who switches watches but does not wear multiple watches at one time.

  • OMG. I just bought Vivosmart 4 this week because I hate wearing my F6X during sleep and wanted lightweight sleep-tracking device to complete data of Body battery and sleep stats. When I realize that it is not working this way I'm really angry.
Trux what are you saying is IMO total nonsense! Why completely reworking system? Why calculation on server? Make the stats syncing across devices is just primitive merging of csv, xml or any other data files which can be done on every slowest smartphone.
Every device is allowed to measure everything (sleep, body battery, ...). Every device has its priority. Are there data from heart rate sensor and accelerometer from device 1, use data from device 1. Are there data from HRs and accelerometer from device 2, use data from device 2. Are there data from both devices at the same time, use data from device with higer priority. Where the hell is such hard problem that Garmin engineers are not able to implement it for months!?
What want Garmin offer more to us? Another from thousands of activity trackers? Why? I had Fenix 3 for four years, now I have Fenix 6. I can't imagine what another feature of activity tracking I can pay for. Only thing what make sense is to complete the whole picture of fitness, health and well-being from every activity, stress, body measurement and sleep quality data. That means comfortable, flexible, low profile sleep tracking device, new version of body scale and hopefully soon energy intake measurement ... everything working together!
Garmin! Every user confirms, that Body Battery is one of the best feature on new devices, but you totaly screwed up its implementation in Connect ecosystem!
Please, is there some fix on the way within few weeks? Otherwise I am going to return Vivosmart because it is absolutely useles for me.
Thank you for answer (and sorry for my English)

It is relatively useless asking this question on the user forum, because we do not know more than you. You better call Garmin directly and ask them.

  • Maybe you are right. But official user forum should work also for feedback directly to Garmin people and I hope someone is reading what are users missing and what needs to be improve. On some forums are also active persons who are somehow connected to company and are capable to give help and answers.

From your previous post I thought you know someting more than ordinary user ...

The official channels to communicate with Garmin are listed (for each country separately) on the website support.garmin.com. The purpose of this forum is clearly defined already in its title: "A dedicated community for Garmin users to ask questions, provide answers, and share feedback.". This is quite widespread method used by most corporations, used to reduce the load on the support departments, which is enormous. You may like it or not, but it is up to the company, what they consider efficient and effective. You are free not to buy their products and/or not to use their forums, if you do not agree with their methods.

I do not really know more, I simply look up information on the forum, or on the web, when I do not know something, that's all. Nothing more than anyone else could not do with similar effort.

  • I'm in the same boat as others here, assumed I could use the Vivosmart 4 to sleep and my watch during the day, this lack of sync functionality seriously lets down an otherwise decent system!

  • I just discovered this trying to sync a Vivomove Luxe and a Venu.  I wanted to wear the Luxe at work and the venu for the remainder of my day/sleeping.  This is a big disappointment.

  • If there is a way to vote this in as a new feature, I am all for it. I have two devices and would like to be able to more easily switch between them without using the "full picture" .

  • Add another to the list wanting this, c’mon Garmin you can do better.
