Average HR, Speed, etc for sections of a ride?

In the good old days when Garmin had their own Windows desktop application that allowed you to do analysis on sections of the ride to get averages, etc without the need to keep hitting the lap button....

Is there anything like this on Garmin Connect that would allow dynamic recalculation of this sort of data based upon my selection post ride?

  • Garmin had their own Windows desktop application

Are you referring to Garmin Training Center?

  • Is there anything like this on Garmin Connect that would allow dynamic recalculation of this sort of data based upon my selection post ride?

Yes, you can click the tab Segments below the graphs. You can also add a new segment, and select the option to recalculate all past activities too.

  • Yes, that's what I used before.... I would often split down the ride and save the individual efforts and it would give me the stats just for that I dividual section, but this app has been long discontinued

  • Hi, thanks I will give this a shot

  • I actually still have the installation file for version 3.6.5. I think  recommendation will do what you need.

  • but this app has been long discontinued

It is there, in GC, too. Garmin Connect Web shows either the laps (both auto-laps according to your watch settings, or the manual laps marked with the lap button) or the segments. You have a tab for each of them under the graphs, as I already wrote previously

  • That's fine for marked laps.... But I'm not talking about hitting a lap button on my device.... Maybe I want an analysis of hilly section... Or flat section, but do not want to set a lap indicator while riding as this was all previously available to do post ride...

  • But I'm not talking about hitting a lap button on my device....

Did you read my answers at all? So, again - as I wrote, you have three possibilities there:

    1. Marked laps (manually initiating a lap by pressing the lap button)
    2. Auto-laps (you can set up auto-laps for example each 1km, 5km, or whatever, on your watch)
    3. Segments - you can define sections both before and after the activity took place. They will be reused for all your activities, where you pass through the respective segment.

Laps (1. and 2.) are on the tab Laps under the graphs. Segments (3.) are on the tab Segments under the graphs. You can define new segments by clicking the link + Create Segment.

  • Hi trux,

I am in my Garmin Connect account on my macbook, and loaded the activity I would like to further analyse, but I see no tabs Laps or Segments

  • Open an activity, you should see it about 2/3 down, just below the last graph.
