Intensity minutes not recording for cycling activities using a Forerunner 35

Intensity minutes record fine for running and walk activities but not when I choose Bike as an activity from the watch.

Is there a setting I'm missing?

-Thanks

  • Thanks I'll try that. I do website QA for a living.... Great instructions. Slight smile

  • Somehow when copying and pasting I forgot to insert point 2:

try syncing the watch again using the USB cable and Garnin Express

Most likely it serves nothing, since all the HR data seem to be correctly recorded in your account, but one never knows, perhaps some minor part did not pass through, when syncing by BT. Not likely, but possible.

  • BTW, I do not know whether your brief answer "Yes" referred to the question about Time in HR Zones of the concerned activity, or not. Could you post its screenshot too?

  • This is from my ride this morning.

  • Everything looks just fine. Strange. And what about the HR graph on the bike activity page? Is that allright too? I assume yes, when the HR zones are OK, asking just to be sure.

  • The strange thing is the intensity minutes work correct when I choose Running Outside or even if I'm fast walking. This is from last week. I didn't cycle at all last week.

  • Yes, strange, indeed. Don't you use, by chance, a secondary device when cycling? Like for example the Edge, Vectors, or an HRM belt?

The bicycle activities never generated any intensity minutes, or did the problem start recently only?

Did you test whether it concerns both indoor and outdoor cycling? No problem if you have no indoor bicycle - just start an indoor cycling activity (note the intensity minutes before starting!), and do some exercise until you reach higher HR, hold couple of minutes, then save the activity, sync, and verify the intensity minutes again.

  • On my real bike I have a cycling computer, but the bike I ride to work doesn't. Anyway I tried what you suggested and my ride into work this morning recorded 13 intensity minutes! That seems low but at least it recorded something.

    Thanks again for your help!

  • On my real bike I have a cycling computer, but the bike I ride to work doesn't.

The HR zone graph is related to which one? The one with a computer or without it? Perhaps the problem is in the link between the watch and the computer. Is the option Phisio TrueUp enabled or disabled in the device settings?

Was the ride to the work with the 13 intensity minutes saved as an activity? If so, how does the Time in Zones graph look?

  • This issue is related only to my Forerunner watch. I have no other Garmin devises other than a scale. So the watch doesn't record intensity minutes for either bikes when selecting the Bike option on the watch

My guess as to why it recorded 13 minutes on my morning ride is because I turned on Move IQ in the watch settings.

I can't seem to find this option "Is the option Phisio TrueUp enabled or disabled"
