forgot to end activity

So I forgot to end recording my morning session with the result that I now have a 7-hour activity.

How do I trim this? I can edit the activity in the Connect app ("time" field), but when I do the elapsed time is still 7 hours, calories burned is for those 7 hours, the HR graph shows 7 hours etc.

  • Trim the activity in Garmin Connect web - click the cogwheel symbol on the page with the respective activity and select "Trim Activity"

  • "trim activity" is not on the menu. It is for my cycling activities (recorded on an Edge 830), but not for yoga. Changing the type from yoga to cycling has no effect.

I've been trying fittools.com but can't upload the resulting file :(

  • It works just fine with Yoga. I have just tested it - changed to Running (though Cycling would work certainly too), reloaded the page, checked the cogwheeel, and the Trim Actvity option is available.

  • Yep, while mucking around I had deleted the original activity (downloaded it first as .fit and .tcx) then couldn't upload the .fit anymore ("already exists") and changing the type after uploading the .tcx did not have an effect (though I might have needed an explicit refresh of the page).

I've now been able to upload the .fit again (changing the start time using the fit tools) and now "trim activity" is there.

Not sure It'll work though, a 7 hour activity is a bit much it seems: page has been showing the spinning ball for 15 minutes now...

Using "section remover" from fitfiletools.com results in a file that Garmin does not accept with "One of your files was not accepted by the system. Please contact Support for assistance."

I'll see if I can fix that .fit file using the FIT SDK.

Try reloading or repeating the operation. I jut tested it with a 3hr activity and it loads almost instantly. On the other hand, I have a 1 Gbit optical cable connection, so it may play a role too.
