Change the starting point of a training

Hey guys,

Merry Christmas, first of all!

I have a question about a run I just had. As you can see in the picture below, I made a round trip, using the Round Trip function of my FR945. I selected a certain round trip and started running. However, I forgot to press 'start' (to start the actual run) so I only pressed it after 1km. Smart as it is, my watch did record that I actually started running. As you can see, the '1' of 1km is pretty close behind the green 'play' sign.

Somehow my watch knew that I had actually started running and that I ended up running an actual 10k. However, all statistics are from the green play butting until the red end button, which is 9km. Is there any way that I can get the play button to go back to the actual starting point so I can retrieve my statistics from the whole 10km?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Tim

  • For track drawing - GPS needs to be active and synchronized. Sometimes when you start a run and GPS is not synchronized yet, then some part of track will be missing on a map. So, without GPS, there is no data about that part of track, so it can't be shown.

Normally to have full track - select your running activity profile short time before start, when selected, GPS already starts syncing, and when you press start, it will be already synced and will record full track.

hi Tim - I have the same trouble for a ride I took today - I forgot to hit the start button till part way into the ride. Did you ever find a solution to how to change the starting point on a ride/run?

    I didn't find a solution, sorry...

  • You can export the activity in TCX or another format, edit the starting point manually or in a suited application, but you cannot add all the missing data - heart rate, pace, cadence, temperature, etc., so it makes little sense doing it. Just make sure next time that you do not forget to hit the start button, and that the GPS is already locked when you are starting.

Thanks for your reply Trux. From what I have read, editing a .TCX file will require a more specialised application and some skills I frankly don't have. I was only trying to change the starting point to be the same as the ending point, I know that the other data weren't recorded. Cheers.

What would it be good for, if you have no data anway? Just let it be, get over it, or edit the distance in the activity details, if it is what bothers you, and remember to use the start button properly the next time.

  • BTW, you can edit a TCX file with Notepad or any other text or HTML/XML editor, and adding a point is rather trivial

to have an accurate map of the activity with the correct distance. thanks for the advice, and the constructive criticism.
