Heart rate zones are wrong in the zone graph for activities.

My heart rate kept exceeding the theoretical max (220-age). My Garmin 245 is set to autodetect but the max HR did not correct itself, so I changed it manually. This automatically recalculated all the thresholds in both the app and the web. However, whenever I do an activity, the time-in-zone graph is still based on the old thresholds. I have read several threads similar to this one but none of the proposed solutions worked for me.

  • Sidebar alert: My FR220 also sometimes shows  my heart rate exceeds the max. However, I believe these high readings do not show my actual heart rate.

    • Some of the readings are way too high for me.
    • The readings jump suddenly to different ranges.
    • This started in October, when I started wearing a warmup top I use in cool weather.

I conclude the high readings are the result of some sort of interference. It may be friction between my shirt and warmup top is creating static electricity, interfering with the chest strap HRM.
