Active calories not matching activity calories

Yesterday I ran 10km and the activity says I burned 600 calories but the the total active calories for the day is only 468. Today I ran 8km and the activity says 486 calories burned but the total active calories is only 407. Is anyone else having similar issues?

Yes - happens to me with every activity where I'm wearing my device (usually just walks, as for proper training I use a chest strap, since the wrist readings are pretty unreliable).

  • That is perfectly all right, since calories burned during and activity have actually two parts - the RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate, in other words passive Calories), and the Active Calories, and only the active part goes to the sum of Daily Active Calories.

  • I know it’s been a while but did you solve this? I had a bike ride yesterday with 2200kcal active calories burned and 2650kcal total (incl RMR). In the calorie in/out counter I was only credited 1600kcal active for whatever reason…

Nope, I just tried to bring this issue up to Garmin in chat today and they kept giving me links to view my calories.

I biked this morning and it clearly read 620 calories burned. And with zero calories burned in my "active" day, when this workout was added it, it only added 580.
