Annoying Garmin Coach rescheduling behaviour (for missed workouts)

I ended up missing a workout with Garmin Coach yesterday.  I got up this morning intending to do the workout today instead but my calendar showed that I'd skipped the workout and I couldn't find any way to reschedule the skipped workout today (it seems you can't reschedule workouts that have already been missed).  So I went ahead and did an adhoc run instead.  A few hours later my Coach schedule has updated and it has now rescheduled my missed workout for today, but obviously too late as I've already done something else.  It would be nice if this behaviour could be changed so that the auto-reschedule happens earlier, or that when I start my run I'm prompted and asked if I want to do yesterday's skipped workout, or simply just the ability to do a manual reschedule.

Or have I missed something?

Thanks

Andrew

  • Yes, this is annoying.  There doesn't seem to be a way to "un-skip" a workout.

  • On the watch, go to the activity menu, select Traininig » scroll to Training Calendar » scroll to the concerned workout or day (for example "Yesterday - Benchmark Run"), and start it.

  • For Garmin Coach training plans and the 245M watch, past workouts do not appear on the Training Calendar on the watch.

  • That's hard to believe, since they appear even on my Instinct, which is an older device, but if you are sure you looked at the calendar for the right discipline (not for another one), and it was empty, then I am sorry.

  • It may be an issue only for Garmin Coach plans (as opposed to the Standard plans).  But I am sure that for the Garmin Coach plans, any missed workout gets automatically marked as "Skipped" in Garmin Connect, is not able to be rescheduled, and is then inaccessible on Run-->Training-->Training calendar.

  • It may be an issue only for Garmin Coach plans (as opposed to the Standard plans).

I did it in the past already, but to be sure I re-tested it yesterday with a Garmin Coach training plan (5K Greg), intentionally skipped the benchmark run, and I can still start it from the Training Calendar in the Run:

The problem might be rather that in the meantime you continued with workouts past the missed one. It is well possible that in such case the skipped workout is removed (though I did not test it yet). Why should it be kept, if you evidently did not care the missed workout and continued with the next one? I'll try to test it in the next few days.

  • I have the vivoactive 3 and missed yesterday's workout and forgot to reschedule. Today, I scrolled up one screen from the watch face to schedule and then tapped on the screen. This then gives you the next few runs in your training plan and also yesterday's missed run! You can then click yesterday's scheduled run and then click 'do workout'.

I haven't done the run yet, so not sure if it marks it as completed on the training plan. At least one can do the missed scheduled run.

  • It will let you do this for a benchmark run but not for others once you have started the programme. Very annoying.

  • I have a Vivoactive 4...unfortunately there is no yesterday option. Only future workouts. Plus the plan moves on regardless and i don't feel ready for the next one. Very annoying.

  • Also find it frustrating. But also see this but we shall see how it adjusts. "If you happen to skip a workout, don’t panic. The plan will adjust automatically to keep you on track."
