How do i change gear for a specific exercise?

Hi all,

I have a 935 Forerunner I use for all my workouts.  For this question I'll stick with biking as it is related to my gear question.  I have several bikes, both road and mountain.

The problem I'm having is the lack of a gear selection for a specific workout.  So, one day I might grab my Yeti MTB and go for a ride, and the next day I might grab my road bike and go for a road ride.  As far as I can find, I can only set one bike at a time to be my "default" for all cycling exercises.  And if I forget to change the default, then I may run into recording miles for my MTB on a road ride.  I have dug everywhere in the app, Garmin Connect, and google to try and solve this problem.  Am I missing a feature somewhere to assign certain gear to a certain workout?

Thanks in advance.

  • Is there a response to this question?

If I have two bikes, and the ride records using the Default, how do you switch gear after the ride is complete and uploaded to Garmin Connect?

  • The change is made on Garmin Connect after your ride is synced. I do this all the time with shoes. I do not have a default configured because I rotate shoes almost every day.

    • Open the activity
    • Click on Gear: Add
    • If you already have a default selected, click on Gear then select your 2nd bike and deselect the default bike, or leave it if you rode both bikes
  • Thank you. Quite logical. I did exactly that. I have two bikes for gear but when I click ADD, only the default bike appears in the list. Perhaps a bug?
