Interval split table: What do the arrows on the leftmost column mean?

I clicked on one of them and that row turned green, clicked again and it turned back to white. Does anyone now what these arroys are for? Just curious.

What kind of activity is it? Looks like a swim (pool or open water?), but for some reason the "Swim stroke" and "Length" fields are empty. Normally clicking the arrow expands the interval to show all lengths in that interval, but since your activity seems not to have any lengths registeres, it probably does nothing.
