Garmin Golf Performance Stats

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help explain the Golf Performance Stats. Not sure when it says my driving for example is 'Above Average', does that mean that it's better than those of a similar handicap or worse (as in above average number of shots?)

Similarly, when looking at the 'rankings' of driving, chipping etc, if you're ranked 75%, does that mean you're in the top quarter (as in 100% is best), or that you're ranked 75th percent and that are in the bottom quarter?

Many thanks

  • When is Garmin going to pull their head out of their *** and fix their software and also provide succinct manuals ?

  • Did you ever get an answer? I’m wondering the same thing?

  • I'm guessing you never got an answer to this?

The first section is stats for "Strokes Gained", go look it up. You want it as close to 0 or even above (doubtful since it's against PGA Tour pro's), and there is a separate column for against a similar handicap.

e.g. My driving has a -0.18 which means I am losing 0.18 shots per drive compared to a PGA Tour Pro. The average for my handicap is -0.45, so my driving is pretty good for my handicap (I'll ignore chipping and putting Slight smile)

For the second section of "Ranking" I didn't even realise it existed, as it seems to be on the mobile app only, I can't actually find it on the website. I've no idea what they mean though as my Drive is 95% yet my Drive Distance is 30%. Since I average 262 off the tee, I doubt I am in the bottom 30%, so I'd guess these are inverse.

Would be nice if Garmin could stick a little tooltip there to explain the data though.

  • Just wanted to bump this post. I to would like an explanation on what the ranking percentage means.  Crazy no one has responded. Maybe they don't even know.  I am 287 average of the tee and driving distance of 25% so I am assuming lower is better?

    1. It would be a great benefit to understand these stats. Right now they seem kind of useless without really knowing how they are set up.
It would be great to see a bit more in depth stats such as what is the avg, top, 80% top 10% for the categories so you can actually compare and see what you need to achieve to “catch up to the pack”
  • Still nothing? How can there not be some explanation of these rankings? They are not easily understood at all. Come on Garmin... lift your game please!!

  • In an endeavor to keep this post active I add.          Perhaps the lack of response is because Garmin just doesn’t know!  Or read these posts.  Or care. They do have our money by the way! Come on Garmin at least RESPOND.

  • Hello everyone. Apologies for coming in late. We have had a few inquiries on getting a better understanding of performance stats. We have a ticket open with our development team and are hoping we can have them implement documentation on what the rankings and data mean in greater detail, whether that be through more support center articles or maybe a built in manual in the app that goes through how ranking is broken down.

I would like to add each of you to this growing list of customers needing a better explanation of this subject matter. Please, if any of you can hover over my name and send me a private message, it would greatly help us in making the performance stats easier to understand, a priority. Thank you.

  • Please need an understanding of the statistics between me and others.

    thanks

  • I am sending you a private message to gather additional details.
