How to bring a workout into Garmin Coach when not run as a Training plan

I have set up a plan in Garmin Coach and normally do the workouts as they are intended. However, yesterday I didn't do the training but today I did a similar workout. Not declared as trainingplan. Now in Garmin Coach I don't see this activity, even I declared the activity as training. How can I integrate this workout into Garmin Coach?

  • frogfrog, did you get a resolution into this? Also having the same issue here.

  • No, unfortunately not. Would be nice to have a solution.

I've the got same issue...I did my race and didn't do it through the Coach.  Apparently GARMIN doesn't have an answer...I've seen multiple post now and ZERO form Garmin.  Seriously team...some response would be appreciated

  • It is always better to reschedule the workout, when you see you cannot do it. You can also pause the plan, if you know you won't be able to train for couple of days.

However, if you miss the workout, and want to do it later, just select and start the missed workout on the watch. It won't start automatically, you have to go (on your watch) to the Activity Menu (long-press the menu button), select Training » My Workouts » search the workout and start it.

Starting the missed workout directly from the watch manually seems to be the simplest solution, but if it does not work for you, for some reasons, there are other workarounds possible:

You could perhaps also reschedule the workout on the Calendar in Garmin Connect Web, and then reupload it to the watch, but I cannot verify just now whether it is really possible, since I do not have any missed workouts in my Calendar. Another way would be editing the respective FIT file from the folder //GARMIN/Workouts/Schedule on your watch - you could do it with some of the FIT File tools available on the web.

Seriously team...some response would be appreciated

BTW, this is a community forum, you do not speak to Garmin here. If you spoke to the "team" directly, calling the support, they would probably tell you the same as I wrote

  • So my wife came up with a workaround after not setting her correct training run tonight

Take note of all of the parts of your activity (total time, distance, min max cadence, HR, calories etc). Don't bother noting individual lap info as you can't update it.

Start your training run activity on your activity tracker (watch, bike unit etc)

Lap through the steps in the workout by just repeatedly hitting the lap button until the workout is complete.

Save it with no details and let it sync to Garmin connect.

Go back to the app and edit the activity. Update everything you can with the details from your original activity.

This should satisfy your coach and let you move on to the next scheduled training program workout.

While this may not be an ideal solution, Garmin coach does recognise the activity and works off the averages.

You can choose if you want to delete the original activity (or just remove the duplicate against your gear if you want to keep that up to date.)

They need to let you link an activity to a workout like Strava does.

Hope this helps some of you.
