Assign an activity to a specific shoe

I have two sets of road running shoes, which I alternate between for distance and speed sets

I have loaded both shoes how can I assign an activity to the shoe (gear) so I can accurately track shoe mileage? without having to change the default every time?

Can we not make this as apart of the connect app?

Since you posted this in Garmin Connect Web, I assume that you want an answer based on the browser based version - in which case the answer is to click on the number (0,1,2, etc.) next to the Gears text when viewing an activity (or the "Change Gear" link to the right at the bottom if in detail view) - both will bring up a pop-up where you can assign which gear you've used.

If you are referring to the app (which you seem to do), you have to the upper right three dots (the kebab menu) when viewing the activity where you have the option "Add or Remove Gear" which allows you to do the same.
