Vivofit screen went blank when syncing with Garmin Connect App and will not come back on. Any suggestions?

I got a Vivofit from a friend and when I got it the screen was on. When I attempting to sync in with the Garmin Connect App the screen went blank and will not come back on. It is not responsive to hitting the power button and I have checked the batteries. Any Suggestions would be great! Thank you!
