Show percentages of badge-owner

Hi!

I have one idea regarding the badges which you can earn.

In general, I think, the badges are a good idea to motivate users to push themselves to level up over time.

However, what about additionally adding the percentage of badge-owners relative to all Garmin users for each badge?

So, what i mean is, if the badge "Climbing 3" is owned by 1000 users and if there are 1 million Garmin users, in the app there could be something like this information:

Occurrence: Rare (0,1%)

Is it similar to what the Playstation Network does and in my opinion, this motivates users even more to earn rare badges as well as there is at least the information how rare a particular badge is.

What do you think?

Best,

Patrick

  • That's ok idea, but you get all easy badges quite fast. Everybody will have almost the same badges set after some time.

Rarity would be mainly for badges like: Ultra and 30/60-Day Goal Getter,

and Frosty/Toast (but this depends on weather), badges for some devices and for missed events.

Other badges will be quite popular.

    .

So, this could be good, if at first there would be more badges for run/bike.

Thank you for your comment. I agree with you, that - in general - more badges are needed.

Furthermore, you are aso right with that some of the badges are owned by almost all users.

But this should be no poblem, since there could be simply stated "Common (100%)" or something like this...
