Vivoactive broke my fit file today

Hi,

today I recorded a 6 hour hike. However, at the end when stopping the activity, the watch only showed "Overview", then closed the window. The activity never showed up for saving/deleting.

Could someone have a look at the fit file and maybe even fix it? It would be sad to lose this amazing hike today...

only 3 hours from your hike are in the fit file

recording ended abruptly, repaired with FitFileRepairTool

Thanks! However sad there is only half the hike in the file...I saw it recording all of it, how can it happen?

call Garmin Support and tell them about your mishap

with long trips give the device time for saving the data after stopping?

also check the content of your ACTIVITY folder and free memory on the watch

time for a cleanup ?

Hi OnlyTwo,

thanks for your reply. As I said, it behaved very strange at the end of the activity, as it didn't respond at all to my touch gestures and then the activity just disappeared. However, I will try to scroll/touch slower after the next very long activity ;)
The activity folder contains 10 activities, the last one is the sadly broken file.

Can you maybe tell me how the folder is maintained? Does it get cleaned every few days, or after syncing?

you could wait a few minutes after stopping the activity before saving

folder get's cleaned when not enough space...first in first overwritten

cleanup is these days user responsibility

there was a time when Garmin did this for you, but that is bad practice
